Talks & Readings

The tour focuses on shared residential building yards, which constitute a significant portion of the city’s open space and serve as habitats for diverse vegetation. These yards, established in the spirit of Patrick Geddes’s garden city principles, present different aspects of nature-city relationships and allow residents to influence their urban environment.
During the tour, which passes through yards of different types, we will explore various approaches to yard planning and integrating nature into residential spaces. The tour highlights the historical connections between architecture and gardening in yards, as well as the different roles plants play: aesthetics, ecology, connection to nature, and more.
Guided by arch. Dana Mor, researcher of urban yards and PhD candidate at the Technion.
Duration: 90 min
Meeting point: Hen Blvd, corner of Latris Alley, on the boulevard. The tour ends at Ibn Gavirol and Hashofim Street.
